New to pottery? Many of our students have never thrown a pot before, and there’s nothing we love more than teaching those at the start of their pottery journey and sharing our passion for the craft.

We provide a friendly studio space for you to discover pottery making, with a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of tips and tricks from a master potter. Whatever your experience level, we’ll help you refine your skills during your time with us and leave with something beautiful to cherish forever.

Learn how to use a pottery wheel

Making a pot on a potter’s wheel might seem difficult, and it does take time to master. But many of the basic skills required to throw can be picked up in just a 2-hour session, such as centring, forming and refining. The pottery wheel has a long history, with its exact origins unknown. Pottery workshops

Stupots is passionate about making pottery accessible to everyone, providing a range of different class types, suitable for all kinds of groups and ability levels. Whether you’ve never touched clay before or want to refine your skills and improve your consistency on the wheel, our beautiful pottery studio is the perfect place to learn.

Advanced pottery classes

Stupots isn’t just for beginners! Those with a little more experience using the wheel can join us for 12 weeks of bespoke tuition, tailored to individual skills and interests, and finetune the quality of their pots. There’s also the option of extending your time with us and becoming a potter in residence at our beautiful studio – many of our advanced students have been with us for years!

If you’d like to dip your toe in and discover pottery throwing for the first time, why not try one of our 2-hour taster sessions for beginners? During the class, we’ll guide you through the basic method of wheel throwing, helping you end the session with your very own pot to keep!

  • As my friend and I left our pottery wheel taster session we both looked at each other and exclaimed ‘I LOVED that’!! Not knowing what to expect I assumed I’d be terrible and be lucky to end up with a wonky little pot or something but with Stu’s expert and friendly guidance we all made several things and I loved them all! The studio was beautiful with lots of inspiration displayed all around us. Our group were very soon chatting and laughing together and everyone had such a good time. I’m sure there was a great deal of behind the scenes preparation which meant there was a plentiful supply of clay ready to go and as soon as we’d finished one piece we were on to another one and I was amazed at how many we made in a couple of fun packed hours.
